This is the script for following up with your prospects when you are looking for new vending locations. So let’s use the scenario where we walked into the local business, went to the reception, and introduced you and your company name, etc… You went through your motions, and you left the business card or a one page flyer, which they were to pass on to the appropriate contact person.
I suggest that perhaps a week or a little less than a week later, you make a follow-up personal telephone call, disregarding email right now. If you get their email, that is great. People can ignore the email; they can also ignore telephone calls. You want to make every attempt possible to make a really good impression on the person by connecting with them on a personal basis and talking with them.
For the follow-up, call the contact person, for example, Mary. When you call the company and get connected with Mary, introduce yourself. “Hi, my name is Chris Robertson from ‘Toronto Vending Services.’ How are you today?”
She will reply, “Fine, thanks. How are you doing?” “Great! I was in just a few days ago, and I left my business card or one page flyer with your receptionist.” And one thing I want to mention before we continue in the script is, when you leave your card or a flyer with the receptionist, remember to get the receptionist’s name.
This adds a much more personal touch and approach. When you call the company, you can say, “Hello, Mary. It’s Chris Robertson from ‘Toronto Vending Services.’ How are you today?” “I am great thanks; how are you?” “I’m fine, thank you. I was in earlier this week, and I dropped off some information with your receptionist, Teresa.
I am just following up because I am in your area providing vending services. Normally, I do not come into this area often, but I do have some machines available. Did you get a chance to look at my offer?” (Refer to the flyer that you left). The person will say, “Yes I did” or, “I briefly looked at it” or, “No, I did not.” And then you say, “Well that’s fine, no problem. I wanted you to know that I have a couple of vending machines that I can offer your company for free. I don’t know if you have a vending service provider or not, but let me tell you about some of the benefits and some of the things that I do in my business that may be different from anyone else.”
