Suggested concentrations are in computers, automotive technology, electronics, mathematics, and business. Training can be done at a technical college, community college, or through a certification program.

Many vocational academies offer certification programs that provide certificates in the desired area of expertise. A person can enroll in a program designed specifically to teach them how to be an effective service manager. Although, they can still achieve their qualifications in a variety of ways over many years.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence offers several professional certifications that boost an applicant’s qualifications. A well-qualified service manager should have these certifications. Many service managers already have ASE Service Consultant certification prior to beginning their automotive service manger training. Having such a certification shows a solid understanding of how to perform vehicle repair and maintenance.

Before applying for a position as a service manager many people already have professional certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). One of the most common is the ASE Service Consultant certification, which denotes a certain level of knowledge in the field of automotive service.

The right automotive service manager jobs has many different components. It takes service manager, experience, and the desirable certifications to make a good service manager. However, a person with skill and an interest in automotive technology can achieve the position.
