Mend Your Broken Heart – Getting Over A Guy

by admin on August 30, 2010

We often need help to mend your broken heart as it can be difficult and even troublesome getting over a guy. Letting go of someone who you had a close relationship with is very hard, whether you broke up with him or he dumped you. It takes time and patience to fill the emptiness that you are experiencing in your heart and life. Nonetheless, people do heal from these relationships and move on. Here are five steps to get over the guy you still like.

Letting out the hurt is the first step you need to take. Know that it is okay to cry when you are trying to get over the guy. To helps with the pain, some people write their experiences in a journal.

One very effective healing method that I have seen some people do is to write a long letter to the ex boyfriend about their relationship. The letter must include the good times and the bad times. Discuss the relationship and the pain he caused you. Allow yourself to release it all. Upon completion of the letter, burn it. That’s right. Don’t even think about sending it to your ex. Instead, let flames consume the letter. Closure to the relationship is what this offers.

Next, you have to decide that the relationship is really over. If you hold on to the thought that he will change and come back to you, you will never get over this guy and move on.

Perform something that symbolizes the finality of the relationship. A good example of this is to exchange all of the personal property that you have of the others. Do not keep that oh so comfort, over sized t-shirt of his that you sleep in. Throw away the items that are too minor to exchange, like a toothbrush. Clear your place of his entire things. By doing this, you are cleansing your life of him.

Depending on your friends is a must through this time. Until you meet your husband, guys will come and go, but your girlfriends are forever. You may have unintentionally ignored your friends for a time, if you have been in a hot and heavy relationship. Reconnecting with your girl friends will not only help you get over the guy but will also be good for your social life.

You will learn that your girlfriends will have experienced break ups similar to yours. By Sharing their pain & experiences will help you to understand that others have survived and you will too no matter how much pain you are in.

Due to the break up, you will most likely have extra time on your hands. Most of your spare time was spent with your ex. Use this extra time effectively to heal and move on. Get a new hobby or go to the gym and get in shape.

By joining a group or class, this is one of the best things you can do during this transition period. Not only does a class take up the time you would have spent with your ex, but it also introduces you to a new circle of friends.

That brings me to my last point, the best thing you can do is move on when you want to get over the guy. Between your old friends, the new friends you make in your class or hobby, and the activities you do to fill up your time, you will emerge as a new person.

The best way to mend your broken heart and get over a guy is moving on.
